FAQS

As a new business, we know you have lots of questions. Let’s get down to some basic info about us, our mission, and what you can expect from us in 2024. Don’t forget to check out the About Us and Our Farmers section of our website.

Where are you located?

For now, our store exclusively operates online, and you can conveniently pick up your orders and subscriptions at 120 North 3rdStreet. This location serves as our temporary hub, where we manage pickups, prepare orders, and strategize for our ambitious endeavor – the establishment of a full-service butcher shop across the street at 300 Broadway. While 120 North 3rd Street lacks the infrastructure for our long-term vision, it serves as a temporary launchpad for our business. We even have plans to open the interim space as a retail store with regular hours in the spring. Stay tuned for more on that!

What will you offer when you open at 300 Broadway? When do you expect it to open?

We want to provide more than just local meat; we want to provide customers with a shopping experience. Imagine walking into 300 Broadway, the freshly renovated industrial and well-lit ambience draws you toward several fresh meat cases filled with quality pork chops, sausages and steaks. A friendly retail associate greets you and helps you find that perfect cut of meat for your weeknight dinner or special party. Not only can they guide you in choosing the right cut, but they also offer tips on preparation, telling you about the local farmer who produced the animal, and how that animal was raised. These are the unique experiences you’ll find at Langhorne Meats. It’ll be more than just a butcher shop. It’ll be a trusted source of local, culinary cuisine. Our commercial kitchen will craft ready-made, from-scratch meal kits for convenient heat-and-eat options, such as taco night kits or spaghetti and meatballs.  We’ll also be offering classes like whole animal butchery and bacon making.

While the vision of what 300 Broadway can be is clear in our minds, getting there is going to take some more time and effort. The structure will require a complete renovation to facilitate whole animal butchery and meet processing requirements set by governing agencies. There are currently many opportunities for those invested in strengthening local food systems and providing small family farms with another outlet for their products. Plenty of grants are up for grabs as we feel it is in our best interest to pursue them. While this has set our timeline back a bit, we are confident receiving a grant will set us up for future success.

We are hoping to secure funding in 2024 and begin the building renovation shortly after. At that time, we’ll have a clear timeline and anticipated date of opening.

Where does the meat come from?

We take pride in supporting local farmers and ranchers. By sourcing meat from trusted neighbors committed to ethical and sustainable agricultural practices, we ensure the highest quality product while contributing to the vitality of our local community and food system. We believe that eating meat can be ethical and sustainable, and we partner with our suppliers to prioritize animal welfare and the health of our local ecosystem.Learn more about our network of farmers and the heritage breeds they raise and conserve here.
